The main guest areas are located on the ground floor of the building and have all been refurbished to a high standard.
red deer in the hostel garden
Whether you want to enjoy breakfast in our dining room looking out on to the garden where red deer and red squirrels are often seen or relax in one of the lounges overlooking the loch, you will feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the world.
Insider Tip.We have binoculars in the lounge so you can watch the birds on Loch Ranza. You may see curlew, red breasted merganser, redshank and oystercatchers going about their business.
The hostel kitchen is a bright and airy room to work in.
The main cooking area has 4 ovens each with 4 rings and work surfaces creating a central island. The powerful extraction unit removes any odours and as a safety feature the cookers will not work if the extraction is not switched on.
The kitchen also has a water boiler to give constant hot water for drinks, as well as a microwave oven and 2 toasters.
For food storage there are pigeon hole style units, shelving and 2 large fridges. Please note that there is no freezer.
We have a wide range of crockery, glasses and kitchen implements for you to use and large sinks for your washing up after you have eaten
Catering quality stainless steel surfaces throughout the kitchen add to the look and improve hygiene.
The kitchen is maintained to the Food Standards Agency "CookSafe" food safety assurance system.
By Easter we hope to offer packed breakfasts and packed lunches. Groups must book well in advance as we can only carry limited stocks.
As we have no catering kitchen at the hostel we are unable to offer any cooked breakfasts or evening meals.
If organised well in advance local eateries may be able to offer meals for groups, but space is likely to be limited.
Please remember that there is no shop in Lochranza. The nearest supermarket is 15 miles away at Brodick. We will be stocking a small range of tinned and packet foods for sale such as soup, pasta, rice and sauces.
There are now 2 dining areas at the hostel. The larger room has seating for 32 and is located behind the kitchen. With a wooden floor and good lighting it makes a great location to enjoy your meal.
The smaller dining room has 5 tables and can seat 12 people. The room is located of the main kitchen and has large windows looking out on to the garden and the loch.
If there is a large group staying at the hostel the small room allows others to have their meal in a seperate quieter location.
the hostel guest areas include 2 lounges. The larger lounge has a TV with Freesat and several comfy settees and chairs to relax on. The second lounge is a bit smaller but shares the wonderful views over the loch and hills.
Splitting the 2 lounges is the internet area with 2 PC terminals for guests use.
