We are delighted to confirm that following our recent assessment by the Scottish Tourist Board, Lochranza Youth Hostel has been awarded
4 Star Rating.

During 2009 the hostel was closed to allow a £500,000 refurbishment of the building. These works have included

  • All bedrooms upgraded, including a new ground floor disabled en-suite bedroom and 5 new en-suite rooms
  • New kitchen and 2 dining rooms
  • Original lounge now made into 2 lounges and an area with internet terminals
  • Wi-fi throughout the building (charges apply)
  • New reception area
  • Keycode entry to all bedrooms
  • Energy saving motion sensor lighting in all public areas and corridors
  • Heat exchange unit which uses extracted heat to run the radiators
  • Rainwater harvesting used for flushing toilets
  • Exterior of the building repainted
  • New garden furniture

Whilst the hostel has been extensively refurbished, some things remains the same, the stunning views, the wonderful wildlife and the friendly locals.

Lochranza Youth Hostel can now accommodate up to 58 guests in 13 rooms. Groups need to be aware that with 3 double beds this may reduce the capacity to 55.

We hope that you will come and stay with us in 2010 and enjoy everything that this beautiful island has to offer.

Whether it is by yourself, with friends, your family or with a group, we look forward to seeing you soon.
